Stuff on my Mutt

My dear friends, please check out this blog. I don't know whether I should laugh at the pooches or feel sorry for them. Mom sent a picture of Snickers in with her knitting piled on top of him, a knitting "stack". Hopefully we will see him there soon (but don't tell Snickies, he would be humiliated).

Stuff on my Mutt rules!

I just better not end up on there or I will certainly get Turbo Kitty to poop in someones shoes. Are you listening mom?!

Coming Soon...

Mom is going to start a new blog - hopefully this weekend. She's going to post some pics of her knitting and crochet projects for show and tell. It's not a lot but she thought it would be fun to share and maybe people can leave comments or give her ideas on projects, yarns, etc... Once it's all set up I'll be kind and let her post a link. I'm such a good boy.

She better not forget about my blog dammit - that's all I have to say about that.

I Know, It's Been a While

Mom has been super busy taking care of grandma lately and I have absolutely no clue when this is going to end. I really don't mind but Snickers is getting quite bent out of shape. We all usually eat around 6:30 p.m. but now mom and dad go to grandma's after work and they are there until 7:30 or 8:00?! Poor Snickers has had to rely on his fat reserves to keep him going until feeding time. Annie and I aren't so fragile when it comes to food - we like it but we don't obsess like Snickers. Maybe he needs an intervention.

Here's a picture of Annie and I looking quite pensive:

I look rather scholarly, don't you think?

And here is me playing with my stuffed hedgehog "Hedgie". All you can see is the tip of his red hat but he's there. He's my friend, my companion, the Tonto to my Lone Ranger, the Watson to my Sherlock Holmes, the Brian to my Stewie Griffin.

Here is Turbo Kitty trying to cram himself into his kitty igloo that he's had for over 13 years. He's 16 pounds of solid kitty, we can't believe he can still fit inside (barely!)

I have to be honest, I don't know how long mom is going to be taking care of grandma; turns out the surgery was a lot rougher on her than we all expected. We think the worst is over and things will get back to normal within a few weeks - I hope.

One last thing, I have three great friends on the Brittany website: Dazy Dew, CJ and Doc. They live with a nice lady Diana near us. They wanted to be on the website and I thought, heck yah - let's get them on here. So without further ado, I introduce to you the La Habra Brittany Bunch:

Hooray for the L.H.B.B!

Grandma Update

Hi ho everybody,

Sorry I haven't been around, I have been taking care of my grandma. No, I haven't been to the hospital, I'm just sending her happy Boomer vibes.

Grandma had her surgery on Monday and it lasted five hours - yikes! The doctors said that the tumor was cancerous so they had to remove half of her left lung. They are in the process of biopsying the lymph nodes in that area. The doctor said that the lymph nodes looked okay but they needed to make sure. If the lymph nodes are okay there is a chance that grandma doesn't have to go through chemotherapy. Isn't that wonderful?!

Mom needs a vacation but I don't want her and pop to leave anytime soon, and they can't anyway because of grandma, so I'm thinking mom needs to go to Burke Williams Day Spa for a day of pampering. What do you think? Give me your comments and I'll pass them over to dad.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers, both human and poochie! Mom and grandma really do appreciate every one of them.

Boomer, mom's buddy boy...

Don't Forget About the Older Dogs

I believe that we need to take care of our elders. There are many older pooches up for adoption, either through rescue or in shelters, that just want someone to be with them in their old age, just like humans. Sadly, some humans think that a puppy is funner and the old dogs are never given a chance to show their wonderful qualities. If they are fortunate enough to live in a foster home then they have hope, the pooches in shelters - well we know what happens to them unfortunately.

There is a particular foster that a kind lady named Nancy rescued in Nebraska. His name is Blaze and apparently he has been an outside dog all his life. He lived his life outside with his Brittany brothers and sisters but they passed and left Blaze to himself. Being ten years old with no company, that was too much, he would jump a four foot fence, just to find some company.

Nancy found out about him and took him in (though in her words it cost "dearly on the domestic front".) But you know what, Blaze was thankful and I'm sure Nancy's domestic "issues" melted away as soon as they saw this pup's eyes.

Mom has a soft spot for this boy - maybe it's because he's older, maybe it's because he was an outside dog and never part of a family. Maybe it's because she's a total sap... In any case, she wishes she could adopt him but we have a dog limit in the city I live in and my folks can't take in anymore.

That's okay though, I think Nancy might end up adopting him because her and her family are quite taken by this dog. At least that's the joke going around on the Brittany forum. Tee-hee! Blaze is currently be treated for heart worm right now and he's handling it okay - it's a tough treatment but he's a trooper.

So I guess what I am saying is this, young pups are wonderful, beautiful creatures full of life, energy, and curiosity. Just don't forget about the older dogs too - they have just as much life in them, they still can play, they still can have a good time wondering about. The thing with the older dogs is you will be giving them a new lease on life, a new chance to love and a chance to be loved. After all, love is what us pooches all want, young and old.

We love you Blaze!

Positions...

Sleeping positions that is...

Sometimes I like to cover my nose when I sleep...

And sometimes I sleep on my back...

(I look sexy even in my sleep!)

How do you sleep????

Eye update: Okay, don't laugh but now I have a little bald spot over my eye. I guess the spider bite killed off the hair too - what's up with that?! I'm healing up though and soon my eye will be back to normal. Thank goodness that the spider didn't bite me in the eye, just on the eyebrow.

Grandma update: Her surgery is scheduled for the 12th of March. We don't know how long the surgery will last because it depends on if the cancer has spread into her lymph nodes. Mom is going to be a mess that day but us pooches will be taking care of her, along with our dad, and yes - even Turbo Kitty will help out.

I'll keep you posted!
