Who's This Fiesty Lady?

It's Abby, aka Crabby Abby. I don't think she's crabby though, just - shall we say - set in her ways. I mean after all, she's 10 years old. She's "been there and done that" and now she's tired of it all and wants to do what she wants to do, when she wants to do it. It's her way or the highway people, that's how Abby rolls.

She lives with a wonderful family including two Basset Hounds, sorry I don't know their names but that's okay, Abby deserves all the glory in this post. Here's a picture of the poochie posse.

Check out Abby's smile! Isn't it wonderful?! She even smiles when she's not feeling good. She had to wear the dreaded cone when she had a skin lesion on her chin but did she complain? Well yah, she probably did but in this picture she sure looks happy...

A word of warning though, if you give her a bath she might get bit upset, like she did in this picture.

Then after her glare she ran around the house, did some counter surfing, scored a cookie, stole the Christmas rawhides out of the pantry AND took a ham bone! That's one fiesty pooch.

I want to be just like Abby when I get older, stealing ham bones and everything!!!

HOORAY FOR ABBY!

2006 Dog Gone Dippy Dog Award (DGDDA's)

Boomer walks up to the microphone and taps it to make sure it's working... tap tap tap...

Boomer: I would like to thank you, all of you, who have awarded me the 2006 Dog Gone Dippy Dog Award. This is a moment that I have always dreamed of. Since I was a little pup I started practicing for this moment by running around acting like I had no sense, tennis ball in my mouth and my gas propelling me all over the place..."

Mom: Boomer honey, what are you doing?

Boomer: I was thanking everyone for the award I won mom.

Mom: What award sweetie?

Boomer: The Dog Gone Dippy Dog Award. See, it's award season and I won this. (holds up his stuffed hedgie)

Mom: Boomer honey, you are holding your stuffed hedgehog that I got from Petco. You got that days ago. You even ripped several holes in it, threw up on it and Snickers has tried to eat the squeaker.

Boomer: Riiiight... Well, I want to thank my poochie friends for something.

Mom: Why don't you thank all your poochie friends for their Christmas cards? I mean, you have pals all over the world who mailed you cards and since you can't take a picture of all the cards maybe you can thank the pooches that sent them.?

Boomer: About the camera mom, what the heck is going on with that? You gonna get a new one or what? You gotta hit that...

Mom: Okay Boomer, you tell me every day that I have to "hit that". Where did you even hear that saying?

Boomer: "40 Year Old Virgin".

Mom: Oh good lord...

Boomer: Can I thank everyone now?

Mom: Please...

Boomer: I have made so many poochie friends! Opy and Charlie, thank you for starting Dogs with Blogs. Without you two we pooches wouldn't have beaten out mom and dad in the Christmas Card Recipiant Contest! Tee hee!!!

Thank you also to Fu Fu (love the stockings!), Frieda, Joey & Jack, Toby, Cubby & Dakota, Herbie, Simba, Hershey and Copper, Carbi & Aramis (now I can speak Aussie!). Thank you also to Chelsea, Buster (kisses!), Simon-Scarlett and Shelly, Scuba, Bogart, Miss Sunshade, the Kelly Church Family, Tin Tin and his beautiful spots.

Mom: Did you have to mention that we lost the Christmas Card Recipiant Contest
Boomer ?

Boomer: Yes, yes I did. I need to thank Charlie the goldie (great smile!), my pal Wally, Comet & Blu, Bailey, Butchy & Snickers, Joey & Tanner, MJ, Isabella, Mackie and Ollie, The Furry Five, Fei, Boo, Salchicha & Lilly, Princess and Katie, Stewy & Nugget, Liza and Dory, Maggie Rose, Murphy, Kingsley, Lilly and Precious Angel Daisie who is looking down on us pooches and watching over us.

Mom: Okay, now you are rubbing it in Boom. We lost, I get it...

Boomer: No I'm not, honest! I have to thank Dean-O!, Huskee, Pacco, Boo boo & Bond, my dear pal Jay, Baby & Boy, Roxy & Andy & Sammy, Jessie & Jake, T-man and CC Man, and Jaffe & Kaylie.

I would also like to thank Max, Evie, Loui and Marvin - my pals. I love you guys!

I am one blessed pooch and I wish nothing but blessings for all of you.

Camera Update and I've Been Tagged!

Hi Ho Everybody!

Well the camera situation is looking grim. My folks had to send the camera in and it turns out they won't get it back until AFTER Christmas. What a pisser - especially since all of us went to the groomers on Saturday and got all scrubbed and cleaned for the holidays. Hmph. I told my mom to buy a new camera but she said that it takes money and they don't have a lot of that. So, go out and get some - that's what I say. See, I'm a pooch with a "take charge" kind of attitude, if I want something, I go get it. She said it's not that easy and because she's a person it's different. Oh well, bummer for her I suppose!

Hey, that wacky Wally has tagged me! I love that guy! Here are the rules and my answers...

The Rules: The player of this game starts with "3 things he/ she would love to get for Christmas" and also has to list "3 things he/ she definitely does not want to get for Christmas". Then he/she tags 5 friends and list their names. The ones who get tagged need to write on their blogs about their Christmas wishes, as well as state this rule clearly, then tag 5 more victims. And the one who tags need to leave a comment that says "you've been Christmas tagged!" in their comments and tell them to read your blog.

so, heres my lists.

3 things I definitely want for christmas

1) pureed pumpkin, like a whole tub of it that I can just wallow in and eat my way out
2) a tennis ball, nice and new - all yellowy green
3) more cuddle time with mom and pop

3 things I definitely DONT want:

1) Rain, I hate the rain
2) Rain, I hate the rain
3) Rain, I hate the rain

Now I shall tag Loui, Marvin, Charlie, Max, and Sam

Christmas Card Question

Hi there,

My mom wants to make something special to keep our poochie Christmas cards that we have received safe for years to come. Do you have any suggestions? She's creative once she gets started, it's just getting started that's troubling her.

Thanks!
Boomer boy

Hi Ho Rowdy Eddie

This is Rowdy Eddie:

Now you may be saying, "That's one fine lookin Liver and White Brittany, where did he come from"? I'll tell you, the kind folks at American Brittany Rescue found him at a not too kosher shelter and bailed him out before anything horrible happened to him. I know being in a shelter is bad enough but you know what happens when dogs and kitties and other animals linger there too long. But let's not go down that road right now...

So he was rescued and now he lives with Annie!!! His mom says he needs some fattening up and that might be hard because he sounds like he's so happy he's running off all the weight he's putting on! He's also a tall Brittany like me so that makes me feel good - like I'm not the only one who's tall and leggy!

Here are some more pictures of Rowdy and Annie together...

This is just another example that if you want a pure breed or mutt check out the rescues! There are ton's of great pooches that need homes. Also, I know it's the holidays and all but please don't buy a pet just because you are all caught up in the glory and splendor of it all. Be sure you really want an animal, be sure you are prepared to take care of it, clean up after it, and most importantly - love it. If you can't do that, don't get one.

Hooray for Rowdy Eddie and Annie and thank you to their parents for the great rescue!!!!!

AKC / Eukanuba Dog Show Pictures

Hi Ho! As promised, here are some pictures from the dog show that my mom and dad went to on Saturday.

Here's a Wire Fox Terrier. He looks like he would rather be at home blogging than at the show.

Here's his cousin the Smooth Coat Fox Terrier. He couldn't hold still to take a picture but I got his profile. I like his face, with his little floppy ears. Too cute!

And here is the Flat Coat Retriever. Mom fell in love with this little guy. He was huge and he was still a young one, only a year old. They are great pooches, lots of fun and probably the silliest of the Retriever bunch.

And here are the Field Spaniels. The one on the right is the mom, Shirley and on the left her daughter Susie. Such sweet little girls.

Look out for this tough guy! He's a Dandie Dinmont Terrier and he's not one to mess with!

Here's an English Setter, he couldn't be bothered...

One day mom is going to get a Clumber Spaniel, one day.

Here's an Akita named Valentine. Look at her side, can you tell why?

And for all the Airedale people out there, here's a sweetie with a great profile! Look at those eyebrows!

Bassetts look so sad, even when they are happy. Don't you just want to moosh his face and give him kisses?!

Here is the majestic Belgian Tervuran. Need I say more?

And finally here a sweet American Water Spaniel. She was so tired, maybe it was because she is the NUMBER ONE American Water Spaniel in the country. Bless her little heart.

Well that's it - why you ask? Because mom and dad's camera died. Not a temporary death mind you, a major wire malfunction, send in to the factory and hope they can fix it kind of death. So there will be no pictures for a while but I'll still be updating.

I got SIX CARDS today, can you believe it?! We are so blessed to have so many poochie friends. God bless you all!!!

Boomer

Thanks from My Mom and the Dog Show

This is Boomer's mom. I want to thank you for all the wonderful cards you have sent to Boomer, Annie and Snickers. I have to say I look forward to coming home so I can see how many cards came in the mail. It just makes me so happy to know that there are so many doggy people out there just like me. I'll post a picture of the cards tomorrow so you can see them too.

God bless... now here's Moomers

*****************************

Oh good Lord, mom got sappy didn't she, but at least she didn't get all boo-hooey on me. Anywho, the cards are just super cool and I wanted to thank everyone too. I'll get mom to post that pic tomorrow. I'm just glad she got my card out in time; personally I was getting worried...

Mom and dad are going to the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship Dog Show today! They are leaving early so they can go to the "meet the breed" portion of the show and then afterwards that they are going to watch the show. It starts at 5:00 pacific time and it's on the Discovery Channel and Animal Planet if you want to watch it.

I hope all of you have a wonderful day and for my friends in the Mid West and East Coast please be careful since the weather has been really bad over there.

Boomfreakah - btw, I just farted. hee hee hee hee
